Prior to King Dude's performance at Dem Passwords, last night I also attended the Chelsea Wolfe set at creepy Spaceland (aka 'Satellite'). At this point in my life I can't even venture to guess the number of good shows I've watched and/or played in that exceedingly bad club. *[Note to God: It is a shame the Santa Ana winds cannot flatten that dank hovel to the gutter and sweep it from the earth]. Sorry, I digress.
If you're a fan of Siouxie Sioux or early PJ Harvey then Chelsea Wolfe's haunting goth freakouts might be right up your darkest alley. Moreover, if you were ever into the more minimalist or melodic aspects of "post-rock" or ambient electronic music (think: Gastr del Sol, Elfmilk, June of 44, Bitch Magnet, Allinson/Brown, Rex, etc...), then the work of Wolfe and her band mates might ooze quite nicely into your black, black heart. Highly recommended.
